I tried the Virex 7 when it was offered as part of the dot Mac services, but but gave up on it: not worth the hassle, and nothing was ever found. I've never heard of Virus Barrier. Has it ever caught anything real for you?

I've only had VirusBarrier for a few months, and it's expensive. I got it because it was the recommended virus protection for the Mac, by MacWorld I believe. Funny thing though... Viruses, trojan horses, spyware, malware, etc. are rare, and perhaps even non-existent for the Mac, yet VirusBarrier manages to generate very frequent updates for its virus descriptions. Virex did the same thing. Are they engaging in a fantasy battle in our behalf, so that we'll think we need them?
When I informed Apple tech support of the conflict between version 5 of VirusBarrier and Time Machine, I was told by Apple that there was no current evidence that I needed anti-viral software.
