Default in need of windows xp home edition expert

hey folks
could somebody please help me to figure out why i cant find a firewall in control panel nor a security icon i'm on windows xp home edition and i just can't figure out based on the current directions available here so far, how to get to my firewall configuration files! i believe i've probably got some ancient xp program cuz i cant find anything you guys are generally talking about relative to xp, LW, and not being able to connect.
here's another system info page if that helps.

1. os ver.; windows xp home edition without service pack 2 i believe
2. i'm told i have an xp firewall somewhere thats on
3. i have only 512megs of ram
4. 30 gigs available on HD
5.connected via DSL from quest phone company
6. modem is a quest-actiontec model number qwm1000kv i think
7. am connecting from home
8. LW ver. - 4.16.6 unsure of java ver. but recently updated - like yesterday
9. my ISP is quest phone company
10. the test asked for worked
11. am not sharing
12. 1st try at using LW
13. the brick wall icon is on
14. modem is setup by way of UPnP enabled
15. i dont know of any security progs. in use
16. i'm connected in the u.s.a.
