Default Ultra-newbie: What Am I Not Doing Right? (Bogus search results, all contain malware)

I've been away from P2P from a long time. I was having problems with emule, so I thought I'd try one of the newer programs. Against my better judgment I paid for the Pro version of LimeWire because I'd heard it was a decent program. However when I search for audio files I find the following:

1) Almost all files searched were less than a megabyte, even when I entered an artist and album title (looking for complete albums). Bitrate at best is 128 for most files.

2) The five files I tried to download all had malware.

3) As a test I looked for files that were virtually certain not to exist (vinyl) and found them listed, but they were phony and contained malware.

4) Searches for specific songs or albums returned random files of the artist.

Am I doing something wrong? Did I download a phony version of the program from a phony site (i.e., there is no PRO version)?
