Codec issue most likely. You perhaps forgot to update/install the same codecs for the desktop. Lack of video or lack of audio in a video almost always means a codec problem. See CODECs list for Movies/Audio/ Alternate players . BTW we recommend getting VLC player on this forum. It has in-built codecs & is very reliable. Even if only as a back-up player.
