First question is are you sure you downloaded & selected the new LW 5 version to install? Secondly, LW 5 will only run on intel machines made in past couple of years, and that does not include all macbooks unfortunately. This is Apple's fault, not LW's. Apple's Java 1.6 was only made in 64-bit & LW 5 requires Java 1.6. Apple's java 1.6 only runs on the newer intel macs.
