Only time I've seen that message is when I've tried to open an OS 9 program/installer on my intel mac.

So you installed LW 5 already by the sounds of it. Try deleting your older LW preferences folder, instructions here Deleting LW Preferences folder in OSX.

Also, make sure Java 6 (1.6) is listed fairly high if not on top of the java preferences list: Setting up Java for Leopard

Make sure your Java is up to date: Java version used & Updating Java
