Sorry - I'm not sure what you mean. There's no difference between LW 4 & LW 5 if you choose to download a .mp3 file
Do you mean that you don't see file extensions in your search results, so you can't pick .mp3 from .wma or .m4a etc??? If that's what you mean then see this thread:

Just switch to Classic View, choose Audio category, right click the column header & enable Extension (& whatever other info columns you want to see).

LW 5 lets you have songs automatically transfer to iTunes. In LW tools > options > downloads. Tick 'add audio files I downloaded from LimeWire to iTunes > ok.
Once the download's finished in LW, iTunes will open & you'll see the file being added to iTunes.
