There seems to be a problem when using WMP for previewing or launching files. Change default player over to VLC .. that fixed the problem for the others.

Setting Default video app. Right-click each video file type such as AVI, mov, mpg, mp4, etc. & choose Open with, choose VLC from list, then click option to always open with. Need to do it for each type of video file.
