I read some hours ago their next release won't be for a couple of months. Unless of course they decide to release a maintenance version fixing up such bugs.

You can get more skins for VLC, check their site. yes I know it's not always nice changing from a player you're used to using. Oh well. BTW you will find VLC safer to play than WMP because you will not be prompted to visit any dangerous web sites as some bad files may prompt you to do; VLC prevents that happening.
