The RAM issue is entirely bit dependent... at least in XP. XP 32bit will not run more than 3.something GB, while XP x64 will run 128GB. Stupid VISTA doesn't show anything more than % of ram used, so I would need to dig a bit more to confirm. I have a VISTA 32bit in for repairs right now, but the processor is 64bit dual core. And I have a VISTA x64/XP x64 dual boot on my new laptop. I don't know if a 64bit system is enough to allow more RAM in VISTA/Windows7.

Maybe someone else knows more?
