Default Drops/Doesn't Connect

Ok this problem seems to be quite popular among both Mac and Windows users however more common with Mac users than windows. I can start up Limewire just fine, dowloads will start, connection says full connection then after 2-3 minutes it will go down to medium connection, the speed of files downloading will slowly go down and then will finally disconnect and stop and the download will be (0.0) and the connection bar will say (connecting...). Occasionally it will also freeze and upon trying to exit it will not fully exit even if i use Force Quit it will still remain in the dock and i will then either have to restart my computer or Log Out and Log back in. The problem is, there are actually quite a bit of threads on this however they all recommend the same thing that does not fix the issue and never go any further to try and solve the problem. This is a very annoying and frustrating issue, I have been searching for a solution quite a while now with no success.
Here are the specs:

Mac OSX 10.5.8
2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
1 GB 667 Mhz DDR2 SDRAM
Limewire Version (5.4.2)beta
Java Version 1.6 (or whatever the latest update is)
I have 30GB of space available
119 KBps Download
41 KBps Upload
Currently i'm using a broadband connection but i have used others and received the same problem
The "test" did work
Do not share the connection

I'm not hugely computer savvy but do know some things but here is what i know is not the problem/s as i have tried them just like many others and they don't work. I don't mean to be rude but please do not post a solution as one of these or suggest another P2P program:

  • It is not the firewall on either Mac or Nortons that i have, i have turned the Norton Firewall completely off and still no luck
  • It is not the Gnutella.net file, i have tried deleting it and Limewire will open and get a new one and still same problem
  • Deleting the preferences DOES NOTHING i have tried that to no avail
  • Checking the Ultrapeer and other items in the preferences does not resolve the issue either
  • I have completely uninstalled and got rid of every trace i knew of on the system, and unless you are REALLY savvy and know of like registry keys and stuff to delete i have hit it all so don't list that as a solution
  • It seems to happen to all P2P software not just limewire cause i have tried many others and same problem
  • I limit the upload bandwith and do not have many files being uploaded or shared
  • It only seemed to start when i updated to Limwire 5 but have had the issue with every single version since and have continually updated my Mac since Version 5 came out with the OS and Java and everything else and no solution to the problem
So please if you are posting something on this thread do not list those as solutions because they DO NOT work. I'm hoping to hear from someone who has had this issue and resolved it in some other way that actually works as this is getting very irritating to deal with.
