Just seen your post, like you I do not use MS's automatic updates, I have been caught out in the past by their device driver and WMP updates, also when I lost the use of MS Fax (came free with XP).

However, I have never had any problems, until now, with security updates, which are suppose to block security holes and not interfere with non-MS apps (or am I being too naive in this belief).

Anyway, as I still use Opera 10.10 (I checked this morning) I will update to 10.50 to see if this cures my non-playing YouTube video problem. In the meantime, I will wait to see of Firefox pushes out a “fix” for this new problem.

PS. I use Firefox because it has more safety features than any other browser but it's memory usage is quite heavy.

PPS. A work colleague recommended Google's Chrome which, he said, has a built in sandbox.

PPS. If all else fails then "System Restore" it is.
