Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but:
.asf (Advanced Streaming Format) is Microsoft's streaming format. I think you can play these files with Windows Media Player. There's a Mac version of WMP downloadable from:

If you are on OS X there's one for it as well (I don't remember where you can DL from , but you can always Google it).

But the bottom line is that you can't guarantee whether you can play the files you DL. Sometimes the file's corrupt, and especially with .asf chances are you can open them only if you're using Windows.
