I use Windows 8.1, Firefox, and Photoshop CS6, and I am having the following problem:-

Whenever I try to open some of my desktop icons (not all) I get the following drop-down menu. (This happens when I right-click on any icon, as nothing happens if I use the left-click).

The drop-down menu:- View /Sort by / Refresh / Undo Delete / Graphics properties / Graphics Options / New / Screen resolution / Personalize.


Hereunder some of the troublesome icons that I cannot open:-

Icon for Photofiltre.exe
Icon for Free Calendars.docx
Icon for Household Hints
Icon for Books to read

The program for Photofiltre has been downloaded on my computer but it will not open, as it used to do before. All I get is the drop-down menu above.

The icon for Free Calendars I had created from a website.

The icons for Household Hints and Books to Read I had created from texts
that I had typed out in WORD.

Please, please help as I am at a loss what to do.
