Default Off topic: Language question

Hallo:

for not being a native english speaker it is sometimes very hard to decipher some postings ridden with abbreviations. So, let me ask some things:

IMHO, AFAIK, FYS, KMA: What does this mean?
FYI: Is this 'for your information'?
WBR: With best regards?

Also I am very often wondering about something I call for myself 'degraded' language, eg:
(sum 1s spelling b4 u r l8), (I mite ov felt sawry for u if yoo had nevr called sum usrs "stoopid dumb@$$". Tuf luk pal.) and the like. I always thought this was written by people very unexperienced with English, but a friend of mine told me that this is, as he called, 'american style'. Is this true?

People, please remember that not the whole world is american, that many people here are from Europe and other countries/continents, and it is not too much time lost in writing complete. It is going so far that I am beginning to skip posts with too many things like 'cuz' (because?), u r, kewl (cool?), l8 (late?), ** (night?) ppl (people?) and the like.

Greetings.....
