Of course there's a quality loss. The loss will occur when you record the song in real time (i.e. record while the mp3 is being played). Even if you record on to a digital recorder like a DAT, DCC, Minidisc, etc., the process involves digital to analog conversion and then analog to digital re-conversion. The loss occurs here. You're proposed software is not immune to this.
