Question Security - windows millennium

I am running window mellinnium.

The security suggestion kindly posted by steve of Gnutella, have advised me to unbign TCP/IP to Microsoft network.
His advice was based on default setting for windows 98.

As I am running Window Mell, is it necessary for me to adjust my settings?

Conflicting information has been provided by Sheilds up!
It states :
Prelimary internet connection has been established that my systems is recieving anomous connectios and that some form of Internet Server is avaliable on my machine
and that net Shields server has been permitted to access the highly insecure net bios file and print port (139).

But further down the report - Shields up advise that the attempt to connect with my computers Net Bios protocol over internet (NetBios over TCP/IP) has failed, but significat personal information is leaking from my systems.

Can any body use netbios as a door to hack into my system?
and if they cant, is their any point to reconfiguring my system by unbinding microsoft network componets

For the sake of higher advice, have attempted to reconfigure my system by entering network configuration and unbinding TCP/IP with Microsoft Network. Sheilds up suggest I use NetBEUI which in not avaiable in my network configuration drop down menu..
How do load it into this area?

I know my questions are quite long winded, as I am a fist time user and taking my first steps in a large area, I would appreciate any guiadance to aid my learning curve.

Thank you for all that help
