Nice/Weird 'nick' !

Anyway, Hi...

Last first... Like your 'nick' ...

You have not said what client you are using on Gnutella Network, but most are the same in that there will be certain file extensions which are considered to be "NO, NO's"... .exe files are normally included in such a group.
In addition, some of the file extensions are omitted from those that will be allowed to appear in your search 'results'... Unfortunately, very frequently some file types are simply 'forgotten' when the lists are compiled by the developers... - .tr (or Tomeraider) files are often forgotten... .tr files are a type of compressed eBook file.

If you know about .sit files, or Stuffit format files, than you're ahead of many others out there !

Back to the point...

.exe files are 'executable' files... they will make some process or 'program' actually run... they are files that will 'execute' some 'task'.

In simple terms, you have to be more than just a bit out of your mind to download and open an .exe file--- from ANY public p2p sharing network !!!!!!!!!!!!
Do not do it unless you are completely certain that the file is 'safe' and also checked BY YOU with an up to date anti-virus program. (The only regular possible exception to this is when you perhaps wish to download and open a self-extracting compressed file - But, being able to recognize what .exe files actually are 'safe' self-extracting zip files is something that takes a fair amount of experience in this crazy p2p world... And then, it's still a judgement call that must first be tested after downloading and before 'opening/running'... OK ?)

.rar files are WinRar files... another very popular file compression program

You can get it at WinRar

Be careful... Think hard before you make the selections about 'Associations' when you install it... You want to avoid 'conflicts' ocurring between WinZip and Stuffit and WinRar !

You'll see, and you can always go back and change your settings.

Hope this helps...

File Extensions:

I used to recommend a Canadian site which was especially good for explaining ALL the different file .extensions floating around out there... Sadly, they now seem to be closed, so maybe try this one.....

http://whatis.techtarget.com/fileFor...sid9%2C00.html

Or, try this incredible - amazing site !!! There is a lot more than simple file extension info available here...

http://www.file-ext.com/

... You will also find applications that will convert almost anything into anything !!! Take your time exploring in file-ext.com... Time well spent !
