Multiply the 32k times your actual RAM. Don't even take the current disk cache into consideration. Just for clarity, you have 288MB of RAM (if I understood correctly); take 32K x 288MB = 9216.

Also if speed is a real problem with any application, create a RAM Disk (memory control panel) and run the application from the RAM Disk.
