Playing-back Downloaded Video Clip
I double-clicked a downloaded video clip. The windows media player started. The title of the video clip displayed, the counter moved, but there is no video or sound. Help!

Codecs is probably what you need. We normally recommend this player: VLC - (click on link) _ (choose nearest mirror site) as it has in-built codecs & is generally very reliable. It's free. Otherwise see CODECs list and alternate players for Movies

This might be a stupid question but does the vlc player play audio files?

Yes it can. See what formats it can play here http://www.videolan.org/vlc/features.html
It's very good for audio or video streaming. You can get extra skins for it too.
