BearShare 10 Hey everyone so I have a few questions. I've been looking for something other than FW since they are torrent now. (I know nothing about torrents) I still have FW 4.21.1 on my comp but I'm afraid to use it. I downloaded BearShare 10 and downloaded a song from there already. My questions are... Is BearShare 10 free? Is it legal or will I get in trouble? Will the downloads show up in a folder on my comp so I can burn a cd? Please use dummy terms, I'm sort of a noob when it comes to this sort of thing. Thanks! |

AFAIK BearShare after version 5 does not run on the Gnutella network. It runs on a different 'commercial' network. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/open-d...sabotaged.html discusses briefly what happened. A fuller explanation for Bearshare, a sabotaged ShareAza & other programs explained here The Story: Shareaza, iMesh, RIAA, and Recent Events. FW 4 is still fine to use. I'd recommend sticking to it. BearShare 5 is still fine to use. Link to a slightly upgraded version & connection fix linked at top of the main BearShare forum page on the forum. The main BS program has not been updated in several years though. Other options include Phex and GTK-Gnutella as programs still being actively developed. |
