ipods

Myself and my girlfriend both have ipod mini's.She asked me to get songs for her and put them on mine and vice versa.Only problem now is we can't figure out how to transfer the right music on the right ipod and I don't want to be stuck with Kylie on mine.Can anybody help us out and tell us if it's possible to do in itunes.
