i'm currently a special education specialist and assist a handicapped child with his everyday school work. it's a neato job, trust me...

Dunno about your earlier posts, one person's ******* is another's hero, you're cool with me, people need to learn to let that crap go and move on, sometimes you've gotta agree to disagree but respect others viewpoints...anyway, glad to meet 'ya, my goddaughter had severe cerebral palsy (she passed away 8 yrs. ago), so I know the rewards you get from working with mentally challenged children. I am new here, and don't know about your other posts and don't care what they said. My daughter gets special educaiton for Learning Disabilities.........she is not in the spec. ed. class all day though. You would never know that she had learning disabilities to look at her.
So I have a question................maybe you can help me.
I am trying to burn some movies, I have a DVD Burner and I have Nero Express. I also have Roxio 7. I am having problems getting them to play on my DVD players. If it is an AVI file etc. do I have to change them into something else? And do I need a decoder or something? I have been trying to do this for two days now!!! I am very frustrated!

Welcome to the fourm, branhamkatina! I'm sure if you search for the subject, you'll find an answer to your question or check out the stickies at the top of the forums...

branhamkatina there's a number of things you need to consider. For a start, whether your set-top dvd player has the ability to play DVD-/+R disks.

Also, some dvd burners & some set-top players are sensitive to brand of dvd media. Some won't play certain brands or some burners won't burn well with some brands.

Nero & Roxio both can burn dvd's & both will do the necessary conversion from avi to mpeg2 by themselves before they actually burn the disk.

I often burn dvd's but I use mac & there's different programs involved compared to windows. But I do have the mac version of Roxio & my version has no problems burning dvd's & they play fine on my set-top player.
