.asx is normally the file which links to the .asf file which are normally found on the Internet on IIS (Microsoft's commercial web server) ran sites.

most people hate .asx/.asf files because they're proprietary, which basically means one company makes a funny file format for their own personal gain. if they would just name it .avi or .mpg, everything would be ok
