I am a new member and have noticed a smiley icon in the Search listings and also the upload under Chat, I have clicked on the icon and nothing happens. Could you please tell me what are the icons for and how do you get to chat, if that is what the icons are for. I have searched the program and have not found how to operate the chat system.

In the earlier versions of LW there was a chat button but they removed it. To use it, right-click (mac users control-click) on the listing & you'll see options appear. Choose chat. Be aware though that many, many people leave their comp's turned on whilst they're at work, school, asleep, or hidden in the background so the chances of an immediate response are not great. BTW those that show the chat icon are also easier to browse that person's files (especially those uploading from you.) To be sure your chat function is turned on, go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Chat & make sure the option is ticked.

It's worth adding that usually if you try to chat nothing whatsoever happens. The first tingle of excitement comes when a chat box actually appears, and this turns to whoops of joy when you manage to type a message and send it before the Box shows "host not available". Now you await the reply .. and when it comes you will open the champagne, type a reply and hit the block host button by mistake in all the excitement
