Angry Unable to connect with Windows7,64 bit

I have been unable to connect to Limewire version 5.6.2 for the past 3 weeks. I have tried Everything. I have uninstalled and re installed Limewire several times. I have uninstalled and re installed the connection fix at least a dozen times. I have let it run for hours with it still just "connecting" screen. I have shut it of and restarted and I am at my wits end. I have tried all the fixes suggested in this forum but nothing has worked.
I am running Java 1.6, I have Windows 7 64 bit,Netgear WNDR3400 V.2 router, Motorola modem. None of the equipment has been changed at all. It worked when I installed it on this new computer. I used it several times. I am not sure what could be the issue...maybe a Microsoft update? I have turned off the firewalls and antivirus to no avail.
Is Limewire 5.6.2 just a buggy program. Judging by people with problems, maybe it is!
I need to get this to work so any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

First thing I would suggest is find the Java.exe file and right-click and choose Run as Administrator, alternatively choose Properties and set it to Run as Administrator from there. This seems to make a huge difference for connecting on Windows 7 or later.

Only need one firewall, as two usually clash with each other resulting in less security. Make sure LW is added as an exception.

This is the place where people come to report any problems with using LW, so yes you will see many related posts. LPE does have some bugs, but they can be worked around.

There is a chance your router is causing an issue. You could try port forwarding which is not that difficult. First thing to do is set up a static ip address: Setting a Static IP Address in Windows 7 - PortForward.com

Then see Port Forwarding Limewire on the Netgear WNDR3400 - PortForward.com unfortunately they use LW 4 as an example, instead you can see LPE's settings here http://www.gnutellaforums.com/tips-t...tml#post120010. After doing port forwarding, usually need to save settings and reboot your router.

Also, if you installed the LimeWire-Fix2, make sure you installed a fresh connection file after this.

I will give it a shot. I have tried the Java fix...didn't work, I added Limewire as an exception to the firewall, doesn't help.
I don't understand why it worked when I firsts setup the computer, but not anymore...

Check any security softwares you have. Something might be blocking LW.

Yes that is often the story with FrostWire. You could try copying the gnutella.net file from the FrostWire preferences folder across to the LW preferences folder and replace the one that is there. That might make a difference.
Another thing to try might be copying the entire contents of the FW prefs folder across, though FW's preferences folder tends to be a little different so might have odd results.

I have the free version of Malewarebytes installed on one of my Windows XP's, so that should not be a problem.
