For every song I play, at regular intervals, the song is interupted by an approximately one second break, for which there is silence. This has not occured with any of my other media players. Any suggestions would be great!

Which media player were you using in the first place?

Hello!
The built in mediaplayer in LimeWire is not a good one and have such tendencys as you described. The solution is to turn it off in LimeWire preferences(Tools>Options>Player) and then in the future use a good stand alone specialised audio program to play your mp3 songs.
