Above solution worked a treat for me. Running 2.5.5 Pro on a G4 Mac (9.2.2). The only difference is you go to the "Navigation" drop down menu, then "connections" and add the new router ip of 208.239.76.100

'Tis easy!!!!!

I have tried everything even the IP address here, but still no joy in the UK. I use 10.2, but have alkso just installed the pro version on my powerbook on os 9... still does not work.

I can actually connect, but nothing is returned fron the searches. This used to work fine until a few days ago... what's wrong?

Connection problem

I'm like a lot of the others. I can connect using the 208.239.76.100 number. However, when I finally get connected there are few or no files available for hours. I have been virtually "dis-connected" for 3 days. I use Mac OS X latest version...

connection failure

still not working.

Tried adding the connection you suggested. It attempts to connect, then disappears. There are no other connections on the list - did the software not download properly?

the Mac connection problem

Mac 9.2.1 : I tried connectin with the new 2.5.5 LImewire, it failed. I entered the temp fix IP, it connected then disconnected in a few seconds. I then went to the search window, put in a search parameter (anything will do), reconnected with the "file" pull-down menue then IMMEDIATELY hit the search button before it could disconnect again. For whatever reason, that worked and now it connects cleanly every time.

However, this particular host seems to have a very limited number of availble files... or maybe I'm just searching at an unpopular hour.

Mac problem

I tried using port 6347 as suggested above... seems to be a little better than the 6346 port. I have NO IDEA what these port values actually mean, but apparently, 6347 is more super duperer than the 6346.

Not working

I am using the new 2.5.5 on my Mac G4 using OS 9.2 here but it's still a bust. On a few occasions when it did connect, it found no sound files I searched for. Now it won't even connect using the new address you posted.

Unregistered September 3rd, 2002 07:59 AM

big hugs.

Unregistered September 3rd, 2002 08:02 AM

nice one, that sorted it right out, was beginning to panic as had just installed new version, and uninstalled reliable old faithful Limewire.

Thank you so much!!!

Two Things

First, the good news is that I rebooted the troubled machine this morning and all should be well. Hopefully, we will be removing any dependency on this machine shortly.

Second, for those of you saying that these addresses connect and then disconnect.: Yes, that is the idea

These addresses are not permanent connections to the network. They just give you other addresses on the network to try. Hopefully, you quickly get connected to stable hosts but sometimes, it has to crawl around until if finds stable LimeWire's or others. Ideally, we would have an orange indicator that would only go green after your connections are stable. When the network is working well, this generally is not required.

Thanks

Re: gbildson's wisdom :)

Thanks for your wise words!
They worked, finally!!
I'm spreading the news to my Limewire pals.
I love Limewire!

now maybe someone can help me fix my Limewire Pro, which I bought
a few months ago, & was working fine on my Mac Powerbook G3, until it broke, &
I bought a new Mac Powerbook G4...since then, I haven't been able to utilize my Pro
& am using the free version, until someone helps me with this.
(sigh)

problem PROBLEMS PROBLEMS!!!

ok i have spent the last 3 days trying to get PRO to work.
finally i sorted thru all the bugs and got installed, and it worked.

TEMPORAILY!

all of the quick fixes work, but then fail. now i can connect for a few moments
then disconnect, or i stay connected but the connections are so unstable there is no time to get enough to download anything.

this morning i tried everything, finally thought a stable connection started and only built up for about 10 minutes, then boom, no more.

This really sucks.

what do we do!?????

limewire guys....is this gonna be sorted out soon??

Unregistered September 5th, 2002 06:49 AM

I am having the same problem.... connecting for a short while, no files are downloaded, and then dropped. what's up? how long is this frustration going to last??
Someone please fix this thing, soon! I really love limewire when it's working!!

Is anyone else still having problems?

Running LimeWire 2.5.5 on Win2K Pro.
Was running fine until a week ago.
Now, I can connect occasionally (once or twice in 4 hours) but it only lasts for 2 to 10 minutes before I'm back to RedLightCity...

I've tried all prescribed solutions in this thread & many from others. Has LW weighed in recently?

Thanks

Unregistered September 6th, 2002 07:30 PM

I had the problem till this evening...and it has mysteriously gone away.

Unregistered September 7th, 2002 12:34 AM

Hey Greg. maybe you can help me out too. i downloaded lw 2.5.5 and i have os 10.2. ive tried entering 208.239.76.100. does it make a difference if their is a period at the end? should i write the port in with it when i add it in quick connect? I also tried changing the port from 6346 to 6347 and it didnt make a difference. And does it make a difference that I am on a LAN? and if it does what can i do about that? Thank You

Not working here

I've been trying to run Limewire on my OSx on my new iBook 700 and have had no luck whatsoever. Even after adding the new IP manually and even changing the Port number I still haven't been able to connect. The IP just flashes for a millisecond and dissappears just like all the others. I know that my college T1 network isn't blocking it, so what is the problem. Its been 6 since I first downloaded Limewire and so far I haven't been connected once. Can anyone help me out here??

Maybe you in particular oh great and powerful Greg?

Need help,
Tylaris

Unregistered September 9th, 2002 03:06 AM

I still have the problem. When I write 208.239.76.100 and click add, Limewire dont wanna type in that... I have the latest version and Mac OS 9.1

Unregistered September 9th, 2002 11:17 AM

angrier than before thanks to the helpful tips given. Before i followed the advice of uninstalling and reinstalling, because nothing else worked, i could at least get things working late at night. Now, i connect but i get no files whatsoever. When will kazaa make a mac edition. this blows.

Unregistered September 9th, 2002 05:13 PM

i can't connect any suggestions?

ok, so, i've tried all the various IPs and domain names.. still nuffin.

Any suggestions on how to get this to work again?

Thanks

gbildosn September 9th, 2002 08:58 PM

Are the people that are not working on a University lan? These networks have new control software running that greatly restricts bandwidth after it starts to ramp up. I believe that this causes blockage and then connections just drop.

Thanks

ALL I KNOW IS THIS VERSION IS WORST THAN THE LAST ONE. I GET ON WITH NO PROBLEM, BUT WHY DO I ALWAYS HAVE LESS THAN 100 FILES TO SEARCH FROM? IM STILL AT SCHOOL AND HAD NO PROBLEM UNTIL I UPGRADED!!!!!!!
