Temp Connection Problem Fix: Connect to 208.239.76.100

One of our machines is down. Enable View -> Connections, go to the Connections tab and type in 208.239.76.100. Click add.

If you have the latest version 2.5.5 you should never have these problems again after connecting once and cleanly shutting down after a while.

Thanks

Thanks for the hint

Can you tell us the reason for this problem?

Unregistered September 1st, 2002 04:44 AM

Worked once in a running OSX but there were "0 files available" then stopped connecting, havent been able to get it to re connect since.

Unregistered September 1st, 2002 05:14 AM

Thanks greg :)

I connected to limewire for a few seconds but it didn't say I was connected and I haven't been able to connect since. Why might I be having this problem? (I have a Mac OS 8.6)

Unregistered September 1st, 2002 07:11 AM

Excellent. Thanks for the help. I'm back in the game again !

Unregistered September 1st, 2002 08:23 AM

thanks Greg - you saved the day!

Unregistered September 1st, 2002 08:26 AM

nope

Sorry, this tip didn't work on my mac using 10.2.

gbildson September 1st, 2002 08:45 AM

I'm running a backup pong cache but it can't perfectly handle the load. If you try to connect once a minute for a while, it should work eventually.

If people on the network with fairly stable ips list them here, that can help others.

Thanks

I still cannot connect

I have spoken with my ISP and they claim they dont block it. I know of users with the same ISP that still use limewire fine. I upgraded to 2.5.5.
I have tried this fix. I still cannot connect!

Help me please!

Useful info

Adding this address worked well, I was wondering simply why Limewire just stopped working. As the other person had mentioned, downloading the new version did not allow access. But, I'm happy, this worked.

Unregistered September 1st, 2002 03:28 PM

Thanks for the info!

I was having trouble connecting yesterday and gave up. I decided to look around today and see if anyone else was having trouble too. I'm glad to see it wasn't me. Thanks for the info and I'll try it in a little while!

I just bought pro today and I am pretty mad that it isn't working. I tried putting the connection in manually like you said and still no postive results. I am currently runnin Mac OSX 10.2 Jaguar.

can connect

Limewire is back up for me. I uninstalled Limewire 2.5.5 and then downloaded it again. I also use the address that was posted. Now I get plenty of files during a search and it has been staying up. I use a B & W G3 with Jaguar 10.2.

connection problems

I acquired Limewire Pro this morning and loaded it on both OSX and OS9.2 systems in my new Mac G4. I could not connect through either.

I tried the suggested fix. It worked very briefly - then stopped.

Is the problem in our software - or at Gnutella?

Unregistered September 2nd, 2002 08:37 AM

Thanks!

Thanks! Now everything is up and running on LimewirePro. You saved my Labor Day!

TRY USING 208.239.76.100 WITHOUT A DOT AT THE END, BUT I STILL HAVE ONLY 1 FILE AND 3MB AVAILABLE, COULD IT BE THE FEDS ARE BACK IN TOWN???

Unregistered September 2nd, 2002 10:26 AM

Well the connect part worked...but no matter what I search for it comes up empty.

Unregistered September 2nd, 2002 10:34 AM

what do i do after i add 208.239.76.100? if i quit and start up again it isnt there anymore.

gbildson September 2nd, 2002 10:38 AM

If you get the new client well connected once, these problems shouldn't happen again. The newer client does a great job of building up connection points on the network that will be there the next time you connect.

My backup router (pong cache) went down over night but is back up. It is not as efficient as our main one so needs some connection retries occasionally.

Thanks

I'm trying to connect to limewire on my iBook out of my college's network. Every tech guy i've talked to has insisted that they are blocking nothing. I've added the address you specified and so far i've gotten nothing. I'm running 2.5.5 on mac OS 10.2. This is a huge pain in the ***. If somebody could suggest an alternative or a solution i would be greatly appreciative. Anyone with a working knowledge of big networks out there, please help!

Worked on Mac OS 9.2

To the person who was having problems on a Mac: I used the tip and at first I connected & then I was disconnect but on shutting down and starting up LimeWire again the tip worked well!

Unregistered September 2nd, 2002 01:43 PM

Why a gnutella user needs a server???

208.239.76.100 is the solution cause your router is down...
ok
why limewire pro needs a router to work...
i'm a beginner but i was thinkin about the GNUtella xperience as DIFFERENT from napster-like server dependence..
so if it's so
what happen to limewire?

If an alien invasion destroy half world we would save the other half sharing the notices using LIMEWIRE PRO!..

But ...how save The world if 208.239.76.100 is down ???

..

Really kidding

Spock.

Balooba September 2nd, 2002 02:14 PM

Sorry!
I just registered and installed last version on Mac 9.1.
Still disconnected/No files available after following your advise.
Next????

Farklempt September 2nd, 2002 02:46 PM

No connections with 2.5.5

Your fix worked just fine. Thanks very much.

gbildson September 2nd, 2002 03:31 PM

Our dependence on any type of (even temporary) central connection will disappear shortly. Note that even now, you only need to get a hint at a good connection to the network once and then you are good from then on.

Thanks
-greg

I just upgraded to 2.5.5, and it won't log on. I can't do the connection fix, as that tab isn't even available for me in the window, and it is greyed out in the menu. I am hesitant to upgrade to the Pro version if I am gonna have the same problems. I did just upgrade to OS X 10.2, so I am not sure if that might be causing the problem. Thanks for any help you can give me.

katherine September 3rd, 2002 02:26 AM

Thanx!!!

Hooray!!! It worked....Thanx alot, Greg! (I hope it takes and stays!)

dood September 3rd, 2002 03:05 AM

it's still a mess with me in paris... the connections don't stay active... this pro version is absolutely useless up until now:mad:
