alright, I've tried everything I've heard in here. I've checked it on the exceptions list for my network. It's allowed on my firewall as well. I even changed the port numbers. Called my ISP, and they said to go to my proxi settings..WTF do I do once I get there? lime wire worked when I first downloaded it... then it just quits connecting and says "the gnutella netwrok is being blocked" and to check fire wall settings and call my ISP to make sure they aren't blocking it. I've don't both. Both have done nothing to help me. HELP!

for all those who cannot connect try changing java from 1.5 to 1.42

LW did not connect with 1.5 installed but it did with 1.42

Hello All,
I have been using LW for about 2 months and all of a sudden, whenever i log into it - I get his message "Connecting.... this may go on for about 8 hrs on end.

I never seem to have been able to log in and get a connection. I am on the LW 4.9.23 version and (Java is 1.5.0_04)

My operating system is Win 2000 and i do log in from both Home and Work.

Well you're free to use the free version until you're happy with it. People are recommended to use LW Basic 1st to sort out any issues they might have. Coming here simply to scream without looking for a solution is next to "trolling".

megido1, eagle1, shooter77 & Kazak, please see my previous post in this thread (a page or 2 back) & answer those questions & do those tests & provide your findings here. It's difficult to try to find a solution when nothing or little is known about your set up.

A) My Fire wall is set up to allow LW full acess. This was done 2 months ago when i joined the service

B) I did the simple test and got the message " Your Test Worked"

C) These are the answers to my PC and internet set up:

Please give us a total desciption of your set up:
1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) – WINDOWS 2000

2. What firewalls you have? – WINDOWS FIREWALL

3. How much ram? - 256

4. Hard Disk space available? – 40GB

5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) – BROADBAND (T2)

6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?

7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)? HOME & WORK

8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version -LW 4.9.23, JAVA 1.5.0.04

9. Who is your isp provider?

10. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.

These details are vital if you want us to find out what your connection problem is
I HAVE BEEN USING LW FOR ABOUT 2 MONTHS NOW. IT HAS ALWAYS WORKED FINE FOR ME, THIS IS BOTH AT HOME AND AT WORK. THIS PROBLEM STARTED FEW DAYS AGO

hi im from england and i am still having connection problems using limewire...when i open limewire an error message appears saying my machine does not have an active internet connection...this did not happen before i updated...limewire was working fine until i updated to limewire basic 4.9...ive tried everything limewire has told me to about connection problems but nothing seems to work...i dont want to remove limewire and install it again as i am sharing 260 files on limewire...would i loose all my files if uninstall limewire and install it again?...if i do is there any other way i could activate my limewire connection...PLEASE HELP!!!!! Thank You...PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEE ASAP!!!!

megido1 & younga-angel, both your problems are recent. Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Fixes for Limewire & see if this makes any improvement.

thank you...but this wont delete any of my shared files on limewire will it...because i dont wan them to get deleted...write bak asap pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...thank you
