I don't know if LimeWire can do that. Anyone else know?

With BearShare you can check web sharing, give them your IP number, then they can open that web page with everything you are sharing in it, and drag and drop the links into BearShare.

Hallo:

Yes, you have some sort of host number: Your IP adress in connection with a port adress (6346 usually).

Now I am not a Limewire user, so I can tell you about the needed steps only in general, but I hope this will help you anyway. Also I suppose you want to have a (nearly) private network, right?

1. Make one (or more) directory for the stuff you want to share with your friends, copy it to there and tell the servent to use them.
2. Change servent preferences NOT to make auto connections
3. Enter the ip adress(es) of your friend(s) along with the port number (most common in the form '123.456.12.34:6346', for example) where Limewire makes it's connections.
4. Wait a little, and you should be connected.

Have an eye to firewalls, by the way. It is very difficult to establish a connection if both are firewalled, if one is firewalled the firewalled one should make the connection. You will find you IP easily with the utility 'winipcfg' provided with windows (open a command line and type 'winipcfg'; is is in the path'). It will be also helpful to generate a directory file of the shared directory and share this also (for example: 'dir c:/your_shared /s>c:\your_shared\dir.txt' or the like), to keep your friend up to date with your contents. Do not forget to de-share your private stuff, if you go 'public' again.

Ask again, if needed :).

Greetings....
