No, not samurai. Swordsmiths (although I think both were samurai too).
Ask around in Campus. Try to find out if they are blocking P2P.

still isnt working

i was able to get the working port number from a Kazaa user. I then went into Preferences, Advanced, Port, then put the port number in there. I still cannot connect.

Any other advice? Thanks!!

mac G4 Tower
osx 10.3.5
LW 4.0.7

could it be a setting on my mac? maybe something in system pref's?

Two things:
-Did you click "Apply" after configuring the port thingy? (doy)
-Did you know that OS X Panther has also a built-in firewall? By default it is not active but it might be worth to check it out. Launch that System Application and click the Sharing icon.

I checked sharing and the OS X firewall is off, I also went to the "Internet" bar and played around with turning Sharing on and off, yet still no connection on limewire

I'm starting to run out on possible solutions here.
Maybe I'll remember something later on...

Same here

I have the same problem at PSU, but if you look online for SOCKS proxies and input them into Limewire it works just fine.

Might want to try that and see if it works for ya, because if not try a program called HTTP-Tunnel.

Try this site for proxies: http://www.aliveproxy.com/socks5%2Dlist/

...oh god i feel like an idiot...
how do SOCKS work? and what do I have to do to utilize this?

xchipx September 9th, 2004 08:57 PM

okay so i input the proxy and the port into LW (but NOT into OS X). i also put the port (1080) in the "port" field in "Port" and "Firewall" under Advanced in LW. is this wrong?

Now when it tries to connect it says that there is a firewall or not an active internet connection. am i getting closer?

hjewrhgeurvhjrug! thank you for all the help!!

i had no luck with the SOCKS, though I am getting a very weak connection now for some unknown reason. I'm trying to find an http tunnel type program for OS X to strengthen the connection.

Know of any?
Thanks!
