Unhappy just upgraded to cable and dont download ne faster than dial-up.......

hey all....i just upgraded to cable internet, and i am finding that i am not downlading any faster. i used to download at 3-4kbs and now its only 4-6 kbs.....i have my download bandwidth 100%....i know that the upload bandwidth of the person that you are downlaoding from has an affect on how fast your download, but ive tried several different files from several different people and get the same thing every time. Please help!!!

Have you tried in LW going to tools then options then speed and changing your connection speed. Don't forget click apply for the changes to take effect.

yea...i chaged my speed to cable/dsl and still nothing changed. I downloaded from someone with T3 connection and it went a little better, but still not the full potential I am expecting. I downloaded at about 20kbs, but at times still went down to 3kbs....is this how it is with cable, or is it supposed to be going much much faster?

It was a thought I have DSL 1.5 MB/s and have my speed set at T-1. Sometimes I get great xfer speeds 125+ KB/s. Sometimes I can only get 4-5 KB/s I figured it was the hosts limited upload speed. I have also noticed that the more I have uploading from me the slower my download speeds also. Correct me if I'm wrong I was thinking I read somewhere most cable companies have a 3 MB/s transfer rate. You also might want to try limiting the Upload bandwith and Max Upload Slots. In LW Tools then options then Uploads. Let me know if that helps any. I have read in these Forums that the speed seting does effect your Download/Upload speeds.

I would download LW 4.4 at www9.limewire.com:82/download/

This could help you get better speeds because it better manage firewalls and routers.

Bonne chance
