Tiscali Just wish

Hi all you guys. Not a one for forums but just felt I had to offer words of sympathy. I joined Tiscali a year ago and joined Lime Wire for the trial period and had no probs downloading music. I have just given Lime Wire my money for a year to rejoin and sat for ages wondering why nothing is happening. Now I know why. Sick as a ripped off parrot. should have read the forums first. We live and learn but as you say makes you wonder what we are paying this money for Chow Chester. Ps suppose a refund is out of the question anyone?

What if all my ports are listed as stealth

Endless Splendors check thru the proxies options b/c there's mention of various ports you might be able to use there. Another way to find out if a port is blocked is to test various port no.'s
This simple test is for port 6346. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? If you can't get the page loaded then port 6346 is blocked.
Another simple test. Keep LW open!!! & then, using your browser go here: Port Authority, for Internet Port 6346*** (Press Probe this port button) Does it say open or closed? If closed then set the test for a different port number. ie: type in the port no. in the space next to the jump button then press jump. Then do the test of the new port no. (perhaps best if your firewall is temporarily disabled or test with it (a) on & (b) off, same applies for NAT modems/routers to test directly by (c) by-passing these devices & (d) also with them.) Another test is to use http://koti.mbnet.fi/gfactory/ctest/ where you can test various ports but likewise you need to have LW open at the time for some strange reason!!!

(If the result comes back as Stealth then: There are only two valid responses a port can give when it is scanned: "open" and "closed". A port is considered "stealth" when it doesn't respond to a request at all. All the GRC port scanner does is fire packets out at your ports. If your port answers back, it will be listed as either "open" or "closed". if your firewall prevents your computer from answering back to GRC's port scanner, the port will be listed as "stealth".)

After trying the link Port Authority, for Internet Port 6346*** i found that not only is port 6346 listed as stealth but every port I try is listed as stealth. Both my windows and norton firewall are disabled while doing this. I have also tried the link http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ and get 'Your test worked' so what does that mean. That my port is open but there is a firewall issue? Not more than a week and half ago I was able to connect without an issue but now I cannot get passed connecting to my network. I am not getting any error though it just won't connect to a host. I am on a school resnet but as I was able to connect earlier I am not sure it's an isp problem.

Port Authority, for Internet Port 6346***

Hi Jerzey boy. Like you I have done all the test and came up with exaclty the same as you.

I even set the alarm for 3am this morning to see if I could use Limewire as another reader suggested but with no success. Guess they have got us by the b---s now. Big Brother and all that. Just who is really in control of your computer?

My mate is having the same trouble with Bt guess its the way its going now. I have given up just gutted I did not read the forum before I parted with my money but we live and learn.Take care guys Chester:xeri_ok1ani:

Port Authority, for Internet Port 6346*** insists the port is open, but Limewire apparently disagrees, since it still can't connect.

http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ confirmed with 'Your test worked!', but still no connection.

Just as a matter of interest you guys. I was telling a mate of mine about all the problems were having as he also used Limewire but had not been on there for months so I asked if he could download a particular track for me and bet him he could not.
Guess what he had no trouble. Was with Freeserve and now Virgin Mmmm.

With formally known as cascade access (reliance connects) I am getting VERY slow speeds both with my Utorrent and Limewire ...And sometimes even right off of the internet! I get DSL and its acting like dial up......IN FACT back when I had dial up it was a tad faster......WTF!

And They boot me off all the time...I get unlimited downloads and upload ..its just one monthly fee.....I should get what I pay for right?

Reliance Connects Help

Hello
I work at Cascade
You say your getting knocked off all the time
and have real slow speeds
If you are still having issues since your post please drop
me a line. I can look into the problem for you
I work in the department that can fix the connection to your home
I'm not one of the help desk people.
Generally dropping connections and slow speeds
are related to the connection leaving our office and going to your home
so please let me know

How to win friends and influence people and taking your frustrations out on the forum isn't one of them.
