I have a problem that when I am downloading a large file with LimewirePro Vers 4.2.6 my internet connection drops after a short time.
If I leave my internet connection on without Limewire running it stays connected with no problems. Therefore I assume that the problem lies with Limewire. Any thoughts anyone. Im running Windows xp |

Can you give us a total desciption of your set up:
1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) 2. What firewalls you have? 3. ram? 4. HDD space available? 5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? 7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)? 8. What version of Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) These details are vital if you want us to find out what your connection problem is. Go to LW's Tools>Options>Speed & tick Disable Ultrapeer Cap. & press the Apply button. Also close any windows you're not using at that time (eg: Connections, Monitor, Library windows) Go to menu View>Show/Hide... Set your downlds to Auto-clear. Get rid of search results that are several hours old. Don't downld too many files simultaneously. Don't use the Resume/Find Sources button on all of your incomplete files. This will play havoc with LW's connection quality & may also use up your comp's resources, etc. If necessary reduce your upload bandwidth to 70-80% or less. And if you've had incompletes sitting at 0% for many months, then delete them from the downld list & also the incomplete folder (but be very careful to choose the right ones!!!) See if these suggestions help. |
