Here's one thing I want to share, after I read a lot of posts & solutions. There's one, out of a sequence of fixes suggested: Delete .limewire folder. I do this, with LW closed, from system tray, I restart LW-->It actually begins set up once again & when I go back to check, the .limewire folder is back??!?? Anybody, anything on this?!!>!?

That is normal.
Sometimes things get confused for LimeWire, and that is where the settings and configurations for LimeWire are stored. When you delete the .limewire folder, you get rid of that confusing information, and when you start LW it creates a new .limewire folder, so all the settings and configurations are new and fresh. This way LimeWire will not get confused and do the wrong things, that created the problems to begin with. Hope you understood that. |

Fine, fabion. I don wan to give up, though, in my 03/13/05 post above, I expressed sense of having resigned! I read a number of posts and found a huge number of lads having left the threads without being able to resolve their issues. I am looking for solution, still, to run LW on LAN connection in office. To repost some basic info:
1. My OS is Windows XP 2. I have the latest Java..1.5 or whatever 3. LW works on my laptop when I run with dial up connexion, but no connexion on LAN 4. Currently SP2 is removed & I have no Norton or any other Internet Firewall that I know of. 5. LOR's test page was success even @ work 6. My internet connexions for IE & FF work with Proxy settings for HTTP at office 7. I have used alternate proxies suggested in earlier posts but, nothing.. (What I haven't done is> in the Tools>Internet Options>LAN Settings>Use Proxy, I still have my work IP address.., should use the alternative proxy details??? This may prevent other applications at office in intranet from working?) 8. I now have LW 4.8.1 |
