![]() Very strange. I have a Dial-up modem with AOL internet and my limewire worked just fine. Now that i have moved and I got Comcast Cable modem, my limewire only says connecting and will not find or download any music. I have called Comcast and they say that they do not block anything as people get mad if they do. I would then be left to assume that the issues would be on my end. My friend and I have spent the last hour or so trying to figure out how to fix this problem, but to no avail. i have searched all kinds of threads on here and I cannot figure out what the hell is wrong!!!!!!! ok, my stuff is 1. OS version? WINDOWS XP 2. What firewalls you have? WINDOWS PERSONAL FIREWALL AND NORTON PERSONAL FIREWALL. I have followed all the instructions that i could find to make it so they will let me work but it still does not work. 3. ram? 1 GIG OF RAM 4. HDD space available? NTO SURE, BUT THE COMPUTER IS BRAND NEW. LIEK LESS THAN A YEAR OLD. 5. Connection type? COMCAST CABLE MODEM 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? RCA DIGITAL BROADBAND 7. Where are you trying to connect from HOME 8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? I HAVE LIMEWIRE 4.8.1 AND JAVA 1.4.2_01 PS from relatively tech-savvy friend: I have been trying to figure this problem out for her and i am at a loss for what to do. We have seriously tried everything that i can think of. Her internet works great but her limewire will not connectfor some reason. I have set the norton firewall to allow limewire to share, and i think i ser the windows firewall up so it can do it too. I obviously have not dome something right because it still doesn't work. I also have a frield who is a 3rd year networking computer student, so if it is something complicated i can try and get him to help. Also, and the HDD, i am not sure where to look for that, it was a spendy nice computer and i remeember it having quite a lot, she doesn't have a bunch of games or anything like that. thank you for your help!! |

![]() Hmmm Comcast check out this link. http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=33712 Not sure but check the service agreement. I don't think they would honestly tell you if they were. Just a thought |

![]() I am running a new G4 Powerbook 60gb hd 256 MB DDR SDRAM University LAN ( T1 I Think, it is very fast!) On the new update limewire version 4.8.1 with Osx 10.3.8 My problem seemed to start about 3 weeks ago when i downloaded the new version of limewire at a similar time to an update of OSX Since september i have been using limewire and have had no problems up untill this point. 1. I have tried over the last few weeks getting rid of my preferences. 2. Stoping the hint box coming up along with automatic connection. 3. Forcing ip and entering new proxies. Its getting late now but i have spent hours and hours trying new things from ALL the forums. I have tried the test page to see if the port 6346 is open (says its successfull). I have even tried reinstalling the whole operating system. All with no luck! :-( One thing i have found that has no answer on is that when checking the bug report sample it says FALSE for Recived incoming this session. People have said in this forums that this is bad. But why and what can i do about it? If it is a case of changing the proxy i have tried and failed. (I got the proxies from a google search and it said on the site i looked at "last checked today") That should work if that was the case wouldn't it? I would be gratefull if ANYBODY could give me any suggestions for this!! I do love LW (when it works). |

![]() My setup: eMac G4, 1.5 GHz Latest version OS X and LimeWire Campus network Whenever I try connecting to LimeWire, it says "Connecting," but never actually connects. If I leave it open long enough, I get the message telling me that port 6346 is blocked, even though the Web-based test page loads fine. I've had this problem before, and the connection usually goes back to normal if I try again a few days or weeks later, but I'd hope someone can explain it. I've tried repairing the HD permissions, reinstalling LimeWire, reinstalling Java, and checking my personal firewall settings, to no effect. |

![]() Fabion Thanks for yor sugestion but, I dont inderstand what you mean by "have a search (upper right) for port forwarding and setting a static ip" I have tried within the limewire preferences setting the router configuration to manual port forwarding at 6346. Doesnt seem to make a difference. I have no idea what u mean by setting a static ip though. This may just be me being really dense but if u could explain this to me as i am completely stuck. I have been in contact with my network administrators today, i get the feeling that the port has been blocked, although the person i needed answers from wasn't there. If this is the case does that mean i will deffinately NOT be able to get around this?? God this is far too stressfull!! |

![]() Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say ‘Test Page was a Success’. What happens when you go there? Quote:
For OSX see this: 1. SAFE Boot & Repair Permissions & 2. icon bouncing in Dock (click on link) Try a different listening port outside of the 6xxx range. For proxies see: A Fix for those whose ISP's block Limewire pages 1 & 2 which has a link to alternative instructions. |
