Default Comcast Problems

Okay, I have WINXP and I connect through a wireless router through Comcast Broadband. When I open LimeWire, I still have the internet connection but I can't use Y!Messenger, IncrediMail, IEXPLORER, etc...no internet apps work. I talked to a Comcast guy that is also a LimeWire user and he suggested I do a Port Forward. So yeah, did that and set it all up and I still have the same problem. So my little brother made me uninstall LimeWire! *CRIES* Must....download! Must....download! If anyone has any suggestions, PLEASE let me know ASAP. I'm dying here.

Specs:
Internet ISP : Comcast High Speed Internet, 6MBps download speed, Linksys Gateway and wireless-b USB network adapter (I connect through the adapter)
OS: Windows XP Home
HD: 80GB
RAM: 512

I hope this is enough info. ACK! I just wanna download, dammit! *cries*

Salut, you mean you can't access websites right? This might be caused by saturated upload stream. Go in options -> transfers ->basic and lower your bandwith limit 3-5KB/s than your capacity (total speed you see in the monitor window from uploads).

Ciao

Not just websites...I can't access any programs that access the internet (other than LimeWire). And I'm afraid to install is again because my bro will kill me and our internet will go out again. But what's weird is that even when I closed LimeWire completely, the net still kept going out. Don't know what to do.

The problem is most likely the USB wireless adapter... All networking through USB sucks. I think your problems would be gone if your adapter was ethernet.

Can't do much about that. The comp downstairs is direct connection ethernet but the two upstairs (one of which is mine) is USB adapter. I was thinking about taking the gateway up here and giving my adapter to the comp downstairs...but it'd be too much. Don't think my mom would like that. Wish I had my own connection. DAMN LIVING AT HOME!
