I am suddenly having the same problem,it just will not connect at all. It just sits there saying it is connecting to the network and nothing happens,I tried every single tip and trick posted in here even downloading frostwire and that connected just fine,then I tried limewire again per instructions and still nothing happens. I even unistalled limewire and reinstalled it nothing is working to fix this connection problem. I haveused limewire for years but I am ready to just keep frostwire in here instead at least it works.

I tried disabling the oob searching to and it didn't work.
I checked all my firewall settings and they are fine,I just plain give up I am at a loss,nothing has worked to get it to connect.

Well I fixed my problem finally. I uninstalled the newest limewire and went back to the 4.16.6 version and itis connecting just fine and bringing up searches again. So apparently there is an issue with the newest version of limewire,because nothing else I tried worked,but this older version DOES work just fine.So until the bugs get worked out of the new version I will just stick to what is working for now.

Well that didn't last long,now the older version won't connect anymore either. I have done everything that has been posted in here to correct this problem and I am just aggitated beyond thinking straight now. I guess I will just have to use Frostwire until someone figures out what is going on with limewire now. I really hate using Frostwire because my norten has to keep blocking intruders and trojans with that version,not happy with this at all right now.
