Default Can connect w dial up but not cable

Can someone tell me why I can connect using dial up but not cable? I have gone into options/speed and made sure that I had cable chosen for my connection and it wouldn't work. I went back in and changed it to dial up and used my AOL connection and Limewire booted right up. I went back to switch everything over to cable again.. and now it won't work. If I can't resolve the problem I am going to uninstall LimeWire b/c I would prefer not to use my dial up connection in order to download.

Who is your cable ISP? Some ISP's block file shareing/Gnutella.

I notice you're using a proxy .. so did you configure LW to handle that? After moving to cable did you change your speed settings within LW. Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; Windows instructions here: Fixes for Limewire

ISP's known to BLOCK or Filter p2p or specifically Limewire
