I don't know if anyone else is having this problem. First, I'm not new to LimeWire. I've used it for some time. I recently downloaded the latest version on a new PC. LimeWire connects and functions fine. However, when I close the program down (It's closed immediately, not minamized), it opens back up about 20 seconds later. It literally starts over with the LimeWire box popping up saying "Initializing" and the other things it says before it opens up and connects. I shut it down again, and it pops opens back up on it own again. This process repeats itself 5 or 6 times. After that, it stays closed when I shut it down. I've uninstalled and reinstalled a couple of times. Also, LimeWire starts up when I turn on the computer even though I unchecked the box for that option. Anyone have any ideas on why LimeWire keeps opening up on it own?

This has been a recent complaint by a few people. Not sure why unless it involves some type of virus or something. Did you get your LW from here?: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml
You can try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Fixes for Limewire & see if that helps. Remember to make a note of all your settings & locations of downld & shared folders before you do this! 8,k |

Yeah, I downloaded my version from the official LimeWire website. I'll try the options you suggested and post the results shortly.

Ok, I've tried emptying the preferences folder (.limewire) along with the other suggested fixes. No luck as of yet. I'll do a virus scan (I use McAfee) and try some other things and see If I can figure this out. Thanks.

1. Go to LW's menu Tools>Options>Advanced>System Startup & untick option & press apply.
2. Tools>Options>Shutdown & tick Shutdown immediately & press apply. See if this does the trick. |
