Connection Problems Problems getting the LimeWire or WireShare program connecting to the Gnutella network. (not about connecting to files, that is a Download/Upload Problems section issue.) Please supply system details as described in the forum rules.

Default can connect my bro home, not my home

For some reason i can connect to limewire at my bros house but not at my house. I have Cox cable connection, belkin router, and my bro has dsl, linksys router.

It just says its connecting.

I've done stickys and no deal.

please help.

1. ISP's known to BLOCK or Filter p2p or specifically Limewire But this might not be your problem.

2. Did you configure your firewall so it allows LW full access (advisable not to have 2 active firewalls b/c they can interfere with each other); Firewall configuration instructions (click on link)

3. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?

Can you give us a total desciption of your set up:
4. OS version? (eg: Windows 98)
5. What firewalls you have?
6. How much ram?
7. Hard Disk space available?
8. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
9. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
10. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
11. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.

1. will spend some time reading first...

2. I just turned off all my virus protection and firewalls...and this still didtnt work.

3. I did the test and it says it works.

4. windows xp

5. zone alarm

6. 512 mb ram

7. 6 gb

8. cable (Cox)

9. belkin 802.11b

10. home

11. Limewire pro 4.8.1 Java 1.5.0_01
