I changed my port to 1111 and nothing happened it did the same thing it has been. I even restarted the computer afterwards and completely shotdown my firewall and my virus scan and it still doesn't work. what if it was my isp provider that was messing with the Gnutella traffic. Would I get the results I'm getting now with slow download speeds in both limewire and bearshare. Is there a way around it. I am really frustrated because I just bought the pro version and it worked for a while and now it doesn't. Thank again for all the help. It is very much appreciated.

Seems your ISP is slowing Gnutella packets Try an alternative P2P like Ares to see if it happens on another P2P protocol than Gnutella http://aresgalaxy.org/

Bonne chance

I used ares and it works well. I downloaded a song anywhere from about 30kb/s to 50kb/s. So what does this mean. Does this mean my isp has a filter and if they do then is there a way I can get around it and use limewire. I love limewire and would really like to continue to use.

If there is no way I can use the gnutella network for p2p then what is the best program out there for p2p. The safest regarding spam, spyware, viruses and whatnot. Thank you for all the help. I would really like to stay with the gnutella network if possible because that is what I have used forever. I do have a questions though. What is the difference between the gnutella (limewire for example) and a program like Ares. Thank you please let me know if there is any way I can continue to use limewire.

It may or may not work, but you might try setting up a proxy. I personally don't know much about proxies other than you need to be patient & persistent & keep trying no.'s until you find one that works. See A Fix for those whose ISP's block Limewire pages 1 & 2 which has a link to alternative instructions.

As for which would be the better alternative p2p network, I'll leave that one up to et voilà.

LODR is right that with proxies maybe.... But you should call your ISP, they are the cause of your problems. You will have a hard time before they tell you they do that (if the stupid tech support even knows about it) but if you are patient, a knowlegful person can probably leave you out of the Gnutella block. Of course, you can always switch ISP to not support stupid practices

The differences between Gnutella ans Ares is that Ares has far less content. There is also the ED2K network, it is very slow, but is unmatched for the amount and the quality of content.

Ciao

Thanks for the help with all that and the explanation for the gnutella network and ares. I am going to try and mess with proxies and see what happens. I can't switch isp's unfortunately. They are the only people who can provide us with anything faster than normal 56k internet or whatever it is. The very slow stuff through the modem in your computer through the phone line. I will let you guys know if I can get the proxies to work. Thanks again for all the help.
