Reformating should not affect weather LimeWire works or not. Do you know what version of Java you are using

were can u see wut the version of java is?

Open controll pannel add/remove programs go to Java right click it click on the line that says support in the pop-up window it will tell you there. I am headed out wont be back for 4 to 5 hrs. Then I will be Grandpa1 on the road on the road ya-know.

Well ok so when you re installed limewire the Java install may not have fully installed. When you got the instructions from the Lord of the Rings, Did you do #1 on the list or did you go straight to #2. If you did not do #1 this is what I want you to do. Uninstall Limewire then do #1 on the list Fixes For Limewire use Java Version 1.4.2 first, if you get it to install reinstall LimeWire. If you did do #1 did you install Java before installing limewire or did it install with limewire. You may try installing 1.4.2 without uninstalling limewire but I do not know if that will work or not. If this dosn't get it going seeif you can find Limewire 4.8.1 anywhere . If you cant I have it on my Hard drive at home and I will E-Mail it to you when I get back Later this week.

i just got limwire 4.8.1 from my friend and it still doesnt work -.- i think it has something to do with my internet connection because i remember doing something with it before i reformatted my comp

I have done all of the things that LOTR and grandpa said to do, I have uninstalled Java and now have the updated version, I have reinstalled LW. I am using DSL with windows ME. I do not have a firewall installed that I know of.. No Norton or McAfee etc.
When I start LW I have all bars green, but it says I am behind a firewall..grandpa said that he has limewire 4.8 version that he could email, when I had that version LW worked like a dream, is it possible to get that version??

doesnt come up and my green bars can go up to 4 but just go

down to one. does that mean its an issue with my internet?

I dont know how I can have all green bars but still be behind a firewall.. if I knew that I might be able to fix the problem.. I wish I could believe me, when I click on the green bars it says that my internet connection is very strong but there still is the icon that shows that I am behind a firewall.. beats me.. It's all giving me a headache that is for sure!

i think my problem has something to do with the connection cuz

sometimes wen i start lw it has a few green bars and sometimes

it doesnt.

BTW today in the morning when i started my computer, i got an

error message from the rogers self-healing program saying that

im not connected to the internet and i cudnt even start IE.

however, half an hour later it started working again. does that

mean my connections a little faulty and does that have anything

to do with my lw problem?
