I need help!
suddenly, and i dont know why, limewire just stopped connecting, in fact all P2P programs stopped connecting. Winmx works, but i like limewire. So i ran "netstat -a" found the port that my cable modem is running off of and set the listening port to that. it connected for a little while and then disconnected. I ran "netstat -a" again and found the port keeps on changing. I don't know why this is happening. is there anyway to keep this port from changing so that my P2P works. by the way, i have full internet access, but just no P2P connection and im running off of a wireless internet through a router. THANKS GOES OUT TO ALL THOSE WHO RESPOND!!! |

Hmm sounds like the UPnP is failing.
Can you give us a total desciption of your set up: 1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) 2. What firewalls you have? 3. How much ram? 4. Hard Disk space available? 5. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? 7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)? 8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. 9. Who is your isp provider? |

Hmm you're the 2nd user of Rogers with the identical problem.
With your Linksys modem/router it will probably have a UPnP switch. If it's not on, turn it on. This should open up the port for you. Then do the test again which you did above. If still nothing, open LW up & wait 10-15 mins, then do the test again. Tell us how it goes. BTW do you only have a single modem-router device? Can you specify the model(s) of each. Do you share the connection with other computers? Do any of those use winmx or LW or another p2p program? Last edited by Lord of the Rings; August 3rd, 2005 at 12:42 AM. |
