Most of the spyware programs offer free trials the ones that I do not already have I go to there sites an download them. The trial versions in most cases will not get rid of the spyware found you have to buy it if you want that feature. Allot of these spyware companies report any traces of any known threat and p2p software as spyware weather it is actually active or not. Kind of a deceptive sales tool it says you have this or that on your computer and you need to buy our software to get rid of it. Personally I would call this a scam.

As for who pays The senior members here are volunteers and do what we do for the for the rewards of being able to help in what ever way we can. It makes me feel good to help if I can. Sometimes people get mad if we can not help but it doesn't bother me it just irritates me that some people want to blame us or the software for any problem they are having. Seems that some people always need something to blame for problems rather than trying to fix them.
