Kind of a deceptive sales tool it says you have this or that on your computer and you need to buy our software to get rid of it. Personally I would call this a scam.

I see where you paid $52.00 for LimeWire do you realize you have been scammed LimeWire basic is free and LimeWire pro cost $18.88 you might want to follow the advice in the links below.

As for who pays The senior members here are volunteers and do what we do for the for the rewards of being able to help in what ever way we can. It makes me feel good to help if I can. Sometimes people get mad if we can not help but it doesn't bother me it just irritates me that some people want to blame us or the software for any problem they are having. Seems that some people always need something to blame for problems rather than trying to fix them.

Hi Grandpa,

Yes I know I got scammed good and proper, I was following links that promised movie downloads, seemed that $52 dollars was about right for a movie download site, assumed it meant copyright movies and not a bog standard P2P, Doh! Well im sure im not the first and explains why so many pissy posts I guess, the www has turned into one big scam as far as I can see, very sad when I saw so much promise from the early days of the old BBs where it was just types like you and i creating a non regulated file share enviroment, christ what happened?!!! just con after con I really pity non computer literate newbies like our granparents trying to come to grips with it all, minefield! I have been out of the loop for a few years due to emigration and makes me sick to see the corperate mess they made of the utopian dream, a sick perversion. Money money money where will it end? I can't even surf for a few hours without cookie crap invading my system, what can I do?who can I complain to? no one!

ON the up side there is a whole bunch of stuff I can do that I couldn't before so I can see some progress but I have grave doubts about the future of this meduim, hope i'm wrong and it seems like the P2P's are just about escaping the garbage for now, funny though that it requires no fancy grahics/flash, really just like ten years ago, people to people.

Anyway like I said learning experience and you have to be in it to win it, blatantly.

Thanks again for all your support Grandpa,

moziman
