![]() Limewire was unable to initialize and start This is usually due to a firewall program blocking Limewires access to the internet or loopback connections on the local machine. Please allow Limewire access to the internet and restart Limewire. I have set the zone alarm up to ask for permission - i have also opened the udp and tcp to 6346 and when i have run the tests in the various messages here the port is open and the tests have worked properly. What is a loopback connection? anyone - i downloaded limewire last night and it opened with no problem when i shut down the zone alarm. but tonight, no such luck - that's when i went thru this forum looking for answers. HELP!! have used bearshare but didn't like the spyware, etc. |

![]() Did you configure your firewall so it allows LW full access (advisable not to have 2 active firewalls b/c they can interfere with each other); Firewall configuration instructions (click on link) Do you use XP SP2? Did you recently do M$ updates? If yes, it may have changed some of your settings & registry settings. One way to help is apply this patch though it might not completely solve it: http://mitglied.lycos.de/lvllord/download-mirror.htm SP2 reduces simultaneous connections so this patch will increase them. BTW please don't double-post! See Forum Rules (click here) |

![]() The Launch function in the LW Library is only intended for opening multimedia files such as video & audio files. Advice is to stay away from files less than 2,000 KB (2 MB) because most smaller files are viruses or spam images. See WARNING: Viruses on network you should be aware of! (click on link) So make sure you use your anti-virus program to check "all" downloads before attempting to open them! ![]() ![]() For fast & easy access, go to your LW Library window, select Saved Files folder & press the Explore button. Sample image here: Using Library Explore button to access downld folder (click on link) & the folder will open up for you. Then open the files from there. |
