Hi Jimmy_T,
You'll need to give a good description of your system:
OS (yep, you've said WinXP)
LimeWire & Java versions
Connectioin type (ie modem, cable/dsl etc)
Where you're connecting from ( home, work, school)
Modem/Router brand & model numbers
Any firewalls that you're using

Until someone gets back to you with a reply, have a look at all the stickies around, they might give you a few ideas

Disable your XP firewall!!! Norton & XP firewall are known to conflict with each other. Besides, XP's firewall isn't so good. 1. Go to the control panel, double click on Windows Firewall, check the disable box.

2. * Configuring Norton Internet Security (click on link)

What brand & model of connection devices do you use? Birdy asked you about that, as it may be part of your problem.
