Angry Limewire connection problem

I recently bought a notebook computer and I installed Limewire 4.10.0 onto it. I can open Limewire, but it says "you are currently connecting to the network" and I cannot download anything. I tried deleting the .limwire folder and reopening Limewire, but that did not work. I also made my firewall unblock Gnutella so Limewire could connect, but that didn't work. I am not sure if it is because I am using a wireless modem, but my brothers computer uses the same modem, and his Limewire always has excellent connection. If anybody has a suggestion, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Perhaps the both of you using the same device is starving you of either the port of the bandwidth. What brand & model of modem/router is it?

I would tend to suggest using a different port but to do that you may need to manually forward a port if you're willing. But to direct you we need to know the exact model number & brand.

BTW Did you configure your firewall so it allows LW full access (advisable not to have 2 active firewalls b/c they can interfere with each other); Firewall configuration instructions (click on link)
